Entry # 1. Opinion of Blogs.
I'll be honest with you, I had no idea what a blog was until taking this class. Then, being told I was going to have to make several of them made me kind of nervous because this is something that I had never done. However, once I got the hang of it, it actually wasn't that bad.
Being able to take a look at numerous blogs and decide what I liked and disliked about them gave me an idea of how I wanted to put my blog together.
1.) The first blog that I took a look at was https://www.cheezburger.com/ and right away lacked my interest. For the most part, the blog contained only pictures. There were little to no words decsribing the pictures to keep the reader engaged. Likewise, there was nothing benefical for readers to take away from this blog, which meant they had no reason to come back and read more. Also, the reader isn't able to get to know the author on any level. Overall, I just didn't feel connected to this blog and would not go back to the site.
2.) The second blog that I took a look at was and visit quite often is http://www.espn.com/espn/blogs. This blog provides links to each of the major sports team as well as college sports. The author keeps you entertained and wanting to read more by keeping you updated on scores all throughout certian leagues. You're also able to watch highlights from certains games and postgame interviews. The authors make sure the blog itself isn't just pictures and for the pictures that they do include, they make sure to describe them. This blog is really beneficial to the reader.
3.) The last blog that I took a look at was https://www.strongerbyscience.com/ and as I already mentioned in my introduction, working out is a hobby of mine, so this blog caught my interest right away. This blog is designed for anyone from beginners to experienced lifters who need an extra push to get them to their maximum potential. It had guides on how to perform certain lifts, follwed by pictures so the reader can visually see what they are talking about. I felt the author kept it very professional, yet slightly personal at times. The author would tell the reader about various competitions that he's been in, as well as how much he can lift, etc. Another thing that I liked about this blog was that the author used links in some of his posts, letting the reader have a better understanding to some of the things he talks about. This blog was most beneficial to the reader and kept them wanting to come back to read more.
After looking through the different blogs, I now have a better understanding of how I want my blogs to turn out and it has definitely helped me overall.
