Entry #6 Arizona Cardinals

Image
Football season is halfway over and the Cardinals are 2-6 going into their bye week.  It has been very difficult watching this season so far. The Cardinals are the only team who have yet to get 300 yards of total offense in a game this season. They fired their offensive coordinator Mike McCoy because of this and promoted quarterbacks coach Byron Leftwich  to offensive coordinator. In his debut as the Cardinals offensive coordinator, we saw an offense that looked similar to last years. we saw more of Larry Fitzgerald and David Johnson which is a plus, but most importantly they won. However, the Cardinals still need to do a better job at protecting Josh Rosen, who is the future of this franchise.  Earlier this week, Patrick Peterson wanted out of Arizona and had requested a trade. He was frustrated with their start to the season and I'm sure they all were. Later he came out and told the media he wants to stay and be part of the solution. Peterson is our...

Entry #5 Fresh

Image
I never really took the time to think about what was in the food I eat or where it came from. I knew it wasn't good for me and I knew I was eating animals, but I never knew the process these animals went through or what these animals were being fed. After watching the film Fresh  I was disturbed, to say the least with that process. The way the animals were being treated was just sad and at times hard to watch. They would cut the beaks off the chickens and the tails off of the pigs.  The film is trying to get farmers to shift to a new model of productivity in food for the future. They want people to stop feeding animals stuff they shouldn't be eating in the first place and start to feed them what they should be eating.  It's more convient for people today to just go through the drive-thru and get a hamburger . They're always in a rush or they're tired from a long day at work and don't feel like cooking. Also, it's cheap. When people continue to co...

Entry #4 Boogers

Image
It might be wise to look away now if you are eating or have a weak stomach, but did you know that eating your boogers can actually be good for you? yes, you read that right... it can be good for you. Parents are always telling their kids not to pick their nose, and especially not to eat their findings! "It's gross," we discourage. "You're going to get sick!" Yeah, it sounds crazy, but it is true research has found that there are bacteria in our boogers that is actually good for our oral hygiene. Um, gross? And also, huh? Scientists have found that " salivary mucins " in our mucus can help to protect our teeth from developing cavities and oral health is a crucial cornerstone of overall health. Our mucus contains a rich reservoir of good bacteria and findings even suggest that snot could defend against respiratory infections, stomach ulcers, and even HIV. The researchers are even working on a synthetic mucus toothpaste and chewing gum to ...

Entry #3 Status Update

After listening to This American Life  podcast, I was not surprised at all by anything that the three girls who were interviewed had to say about the social media platforms they use today. These kids want validation. They're seeking approval from their peers and it's not nice when they don't get it. One example I heard was from the kids in the podcast saying how before they post a picture they send it to a group chat of about four to five friends to make sure it's 'good' enough. Their friends would normally say the same things that they would on an actual comment, so they would post it because they felt good about the picture. Another example is that even though the three girls pretty much knew what their friends and other people were going to comment on their photos, they still needed to see that comment in order to make them feel good about themselves. It is almost a social obligation to comment on your friend's picture. Also, so that other people kno...
