Entry #10 Future Bloggers
As my first semester of college English is coming to an end I am a bit excited but not because I didn't like the class or anything but because my first semester of college is finally coming to end! It's just like the old saying, "All good things must come to an end", and this was, in fact, a good thing!
Blogging was definitely a great alternative to another essay because who really likes writing an essay? Even on the blogs that have assigned topics, we can have our own ideas, visions, opinion, and even voice our own ideas. Obviously, we can do the same thing in essay format, but we are able to get our same point across using only half the words and we get to add pictures, links, videos, etc. I think I will stick to writing a blog!
Some of the challenges that I faced during the blogging assignment was first not knowing what to write about on the blogs that did not have an assigned topic. Also, I experienced a massive case of writer's block every other assignment. Since a lot of the entries were self-generated, I had no idea where I wanted to go with the entry. It was all up to me and that is where I struggled the most. Also, do not procrastinate on your blogs! It will kill you in the assignment if you wait to do them the day that it is actually due because the next thing you know you're writing four entries in one day. It is stressful, hard, time-consuming, and your work does not turn out how it should. I am speaking from experience!
One benefit from blogging in class was that I became more tech savvy. Before college, I never really used the computer that much because I had no reason to but, the blogging assignments forced me to teach myself how to use one. I am really thankful for that.
Writing a blog does have a different feeling because you are writing to a much bigger audience than you would for an essay which is one thing I definitely think about while writing each and every entry. It makes you censor your writing which is something you should avoid doing at all costs because that is not complete writing!
I strongly believe that this was one of the best tools I have used in my education so far.
Overall, I am glad I was introduced and required to use blogger for a portion of my grade. It has helped me improve my writing significantly over the course of the semester and allowed me to get to know my peers on a more personal level.
Blogging was an assignment that I went into with a negative outlook because it was something that I had never done before but I came out of it with a totally different view.
The last thing I want to leave you with is to HAVE FUN because when are going to be asked to blog for a class again?
